Poppies Gone Wild

Never having painted Poppies , This was a challenge . I am not comfortable with Reds or Oranges as dominant. My friends kid me a lot about it
I held my breath and nose and plunged in .
As Arnold Lowery always says " If you never try anything different, you will always do the same thing " !
Thank you Arnold for your words of wisdom .

Working Boats Seattle

This is from a time when I was into all and just Boats .

After a Fabulous trip to Seattle, one of two , which I loved , because everything is near the water. We took a trip down the waterways and it was Heaven to see Real Macho type Ships rather than the puny cute- named Yachts on 5 Mile River . Okay , I like it them too!

Portrait Of A Golden Angel

I did this painting on Sort of a dare ,in a Demo another srtist gave. I am not generally interested in Animal painting ,but I wanted to give it a whirl. The emphasis was on Light and leaving as much white paper as possible ,without having a formlessness I have seen in many wet in wet paintings.

I think this my first cat painting , if I can remember that far back.

"To Everything There Is A Season "

This is not from the Old Song ,but from Ecclesiastes 3:1. It seemed appropriate and came to  me as soon as I  looked at the completed piece  .
This is what I call a "Loose", watercolor . Gradations and important definition of what has already been put down ,

Snow On the Frog Pond

Thought you would like to see the Original painting used for my Blog Title .

When I first showed this it upset many Artist friends who thought I had left too much white space on the paper .

I have, nevertheless ,not changed anything because it is how I saw it.

I did follow the Golden Mean ,but I saw the Two-Thirds ,as a White Space symbolizing Pure Untouched Snow.

It seemed that nothing ,but the white paper could convey Snow better .So ,it remains until I get a better argument !

This is 22x30 Arches Watercolor .

The Prankster

When Nick Simmons did his famous Demo of Koi on Wet Canvas in which about 15,000 people viewed and took part in the Lottery for the painting , I was greatly inspired by the work and did about 9 myself .

At that time I was alone a lot ,since Louie 's accumulated stays at Both the Hospital and Waveny Rehab followed each other for almost 2 and a half years .

Fish tanks are common in both places , but Waveny had especially Beautiful , well taken care of Tanks with Gorgeous Fish .

I noticed that even Fish ,fool around and play tricks on each other , or so it seems to me .Anyone who knows me would know that Fish being playful would strike me as really funny . I have a Nutty sense of humor

I spent some time examining the games they play together and that is what I thought about while doing the Prankster . They probably all call him the "Brat "!

A Leaf Alone

Some people hate Masking , But to me the fun of revealing what is under it is more fun than anything . Of course ,I have had my Horrifying spills with it , but that hasn't dissuaded me from using it .

More Petunias

My Newest Petunia painting.

I tried working the background first on this one .Not a Normal method for me . But I do think it has a softer look due to it .

A few leaves have fallen but everything is still pretty green and it's still Hot enough for the AC to be blasting away like Summer .
We are awaiting more Hurricanes and hope they will never hit us.
The Painting above shows the Pond, when we used to have ice on it . It has been over 25 years since you could skate on it, as my kids did all Winter years ago . This painting may be the only memory we have of it now ,other then a few Photos of the fun on the Ice . Actually it IS only a Memory now . I wish I had done more .
